It provides a framework that an organization can follow, it covers the environmental impact and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

This is a framework designed to measure and improve the way natural resources are used and disposed of by an organization.

As a part of the ISO family of standards, ISO 14001 can easily be integrated with other management system standards, most commonly ISO 9001.
